Chipper Program

A red truck and a yellow wood chipper are on a dirt path in a wooded area, with a person in a hard hat working nearby.

 Brush Chipping Service Guidelines

Please visit the Contact Us page and complete the Brush Chipping Request form to notify the district. Include any additional information the crew may need in the Comment or Message section of the form.

Chipping requests are typically addressed within two weeks. However, at certain times of the year, it may take longer for crews to reach your property. If your pile has not been chipped after two weeks, please submit another request form.

It is important to place brush piles along the street for easy access. If this is not possible, please leave a detailed description of the brush location in the Comment or Message box on the request form. Clear communication about the brush’s location helps ensure efficient and accurate service.

The following DOs and DON’Ts will help you prepare your property for the Peeples Valley Fire District Fuels Crew Chipping Service.

DO

  • Have the cut ends of the brush facing the street
  • Make longer piles instead of higher piles (maximum 3–4 feet high)
  • Maintain a safe distance of at least 50 feet while crews are operating the chipper

DON’T

  • Use twine, string, wire, flagging, or any other material to tie brush bundles together
  • Request chipping for brush that has been lying on the ground for years (this damages chipper blades and creates safety hazards for the crew)

·       Place the following in piles: Pine needles, Leaf litter, Rocks, Root balls, Cacti, Trash, Any debris other than natural brush materials (These items will not be chipped.)

  • Place materials in bags. Bags cannot go into the chipper.
  • Place brush in garbage cans, trailers, or any other containers. These materials will not be chipped.

If you have questions or concerns, please use the Comment or Message box on the request form to request a phone call from the district.

Thank you for your support in helping make the Weaver Mountains a safer place to live.
